Nina Singh, previously known as Nina Rani, was born on Saturday, 11 July 1964 (currently 59 years old as of 2023) in Darbhanga, Patna, India. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. She finished her schooling in Bihar and then attended Patna Women’s College, where she earned her B.A. Later, she joined Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi for her M.A. She also completed her Master in Public Administration (MPA) at the Harvard Kennedy School. After completing high school in Bihar, she attended Patna Women’s College and earned a B.A. Later, she joined Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi for her M.A. Nina also achieved a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) from Harvard Kennedy School. She further obtained a degree in assessing social programs from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. Following her formal education, Nina took the UPSC civil services examination and successfully passed. After that, she went to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, Telangana.
At first, Nina was assigned to work in Manipur on 21 August 1989. She held various positions there. Later on, she was moved to the Rajasthan cadre, making her the first woman IPS officer to be assigned to that region.
In 2000, when she was the secretary of the Rajasthan State Women’s Commission, Nina introduced a unique program to help women facing difficulties. This initiative involved organizing hearings in different districts, giving women a platform to express their concerns. In Rajasthan, she held important roles like Additional Director General (Training) and Director General of Civil Rights and anti-human Trafficking. In 2013, she joined the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and worked on significant cases like the Sheena Bora murder, PNB Scam, Nirav Modi case, and Jiah Khan’s suicide. She stayed with the CBI until 2018. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she became the Principal Secretary (Health) in Rajasthan. Later, she was appointed as the Special Director General of the CISF.
